Fujitsu launches Arrows Tab Wi-Fi waterproof tablet

Fujitsu has announced the release of its latest Arrows product, the Arrows Tab Wi-Fi, which adds a feature for which many tablet owners have been longing: a water-resistant casing.

Based around a 10.1in 1280x800 multi-touch display, the Arrows Tab Wi-Fi is safe for use outdoors, in the kitchen, or even - Fujitsu claims - in the bath, while a front-facing camera allows for gesture control without actually touching the screen; perfect if you're looking at recipes in the kitchen and have messy hands.

Additionally, the system includes a fingerprint sensor for added security, a Saku-Saku high-response touch-panel with Fujitsu's Super Glide Coating and a dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP4 ARM processor running at 1GHz.

Based on Google's popular Android platform, Fujitsu has added a raft of its own technologies to the Arrows Tab in order to differentiate itself from the competition: full DLNA connectivity is supported for streaming content from compatible devices, while Fujitsu's own F-LINK software allows wireless data transfer between PCs and other Android devices.

Measuring 181 x 262 x 11.3mm and weighing just 599g, Fujitsu claims that the ultra-slim battery found in the Arrows Tab Wi-Fi is capable of running the device continuously for around ten hours while playing back video and of providing around 83 hours of music playback with the screen switched off.

Sadly, Fujitsu looks to be keeping the Arrows Tab Wi-Fi as a product purely for its native Japan: while it has confirmed a launch on the 19th January in 32GB and 16GB versions, the company is so far silent on whether the device will make it to the UK any time soon.
