A fix for the Lumia 800's battery issues is ready to roll

Nokia Lumia 800 owners rejoice: the long-awaited battery fix is now live. The update will be staggered over the next two weeks, but every Lumia 800 device will receive it.

If you own Nokia's sleek Windows Phone device, keep checking in Settings > Phone Update to see if your handset's ready. You should also get a message when your turn comes.

However, the update won't be a simple over-the-airwaves affair. You'll have to connect your phone to a PC or laptop via USB, then open the Zune software. From the Applications section, go to Phone Settings > Phone Update to install the new software. On a Mac, click on the device name in the left-hand pane and then on ‘Install update'.

We love the Nokia Lumia 800, but find the battery often gives up in a day or less, and occasionally refuses to turn back on even when plugged in. Hopefully this update will sort it out, and keep us from hurling our beloved smartphone across the room in a fit of blind rage.

The update also apparently includes 'Wi-Fi updates'.
